Obiettivi formativi

Al termine dell’insegnamento lo studente/la studentessa deve:
− conoscere e padroneggiare strutture grammaticali più complesse;
− aver sviluppato la capacità di comprensione di testi divulgativi e in ambito
scientifico;
− saper utilizzare correttamente la terminologia medico-scientifica;
− comprendere testi di ascolto più articolati

 


By the end of the year, the student should:
• recognize and know how to use the more complex grammatical structures of the
English language,
• understand scientific texts and texts in general English,
• correctly use medical-scientific terms,
• understand when listening to more complex recorded texts,
• be able to write a short text on a scientific topic.

CONOSCENZA E CAPACITÀ DI COMPRENSIONE
Al termine dell’insegnamento lo studente/studentessa sarà in grado di
dimostrare l’acquisizione di un linguaggio specialistico nell’ambito dell’assistenza
infermieristica (leggere e comprendere semplici testi scientifici e comprendere i
concetti principali di una conferenza in campo scientifico).

CAPACITÀ DI APPLICARE CONOSCENZA E COMPRENSIONE
Al termine dell’insegnamento lo studente/studentessa sarà in grado di dimostrare
competenze linguistiche di natura lessicale e morfosintattica volte alla
comprensione e interpretazione di testi e interagire in inglese in modo semplice
con un paziente.

AUTONOMIA DI GIUDIZIO
Al termine dell’insegnamento lo studente/studentessa sarà in grado di dimostrare
autonomia di giudizio selezionando e utilizzando fonti scientifiche affidabili in
lingua inglese e criticare costruttivamente i prodotti della ricerca.

ABILITÀ COMUNICATIVE
Al termine dell'insegnamento lo studente/studentessa sarà in grado di:
• comunicare in lingua inglese per la produzione orale e scritta
• comunicare in lingua inglese sia per l'interazione nel team di cura, sia con
la persona assistita e con la sua famiglia

Al termine dell'insegnamento lo studente/studentessa sarà in grado di
proseguire autonomamente nel consolidamento delle competenze linguistiche
nell'ambito delle cure e dell’assistenza.

KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
By the end of the course, the student will be able to demonstrate the acquisition of a
specialized language in the field of nursing (reading and understanding simple scientific
texts and understanding the main concepts of a conference in the scientific field).

APPLYING KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
By the end of the course, the student will be able to demonstrate lexical and
morphosyntactic language skills aimed at understanding and interpreting texts and
interacting in English in a simple way with a patient.

INDEPENDENT JUDGEMENT
By the end of the course, the student will be able to demonstrate autonomy of judgment
by selecting and using reliable scientific sources in English and constructively
criticizing the research products.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS
By the end of the course, the student will be able:
• to communicate in English (oral and written production);
• to communicate in English to interact both in work situations and with the
patient and their family.

LEARNING SKILLS
By the end of the course, the student will be able to continue independently to reinforce
the language skills in the area of health and welfare

Argomenti trattati:
− strutture grammaticali più complesse;
− funzioni linguistiche orientate a tematiche sanitarie ed assistenziali;
− lessico specifico dell’ambiente medico-assistenziale;
− articoli riguardanti varie malattie, procedure infermieristiche, apparati...;
− esercizi di comprensione orale in campo scientifico e divulgativo;
− esercizi di conversazione (simulazione rapporto infermiere-paziente).

• more complex English grammar structures,
• vocabulary and expressions for health and welfare issues,
• specific medical-welfare vocabulary,
• articles concerning diseases, case studies, nursing procedures, hospital
administration, …
• speaking practice for work situations and everyday conversation,
• conversation practice (simulating nurse-patient interactions).

Modalità di insegnamento


L’insegnamento prevede 30 ore di lezioni frontali (frequenza obbligatoria). Gli studenti/studentesse saranno divisi in tre gruppi in base al livello.
Gli studenti/le studentesse interessati/e possono seguire esercitazioni extra, tenute dai Collaboratori alla
didattica, per approfondire e/o rivedere argomenti specifici.


The course includes 30 hours of compulsory lessons. Students will be divided into three
groups according to their level.
Students may follow extra lessons, held by teaching assistants, to revise specific topics
and/or do some speaking activities.

Modalità di verifica dell'apprendimento


La valutazione dell’apprendimento avviene sulla base di un test scritto e di un colloquio
orale. Il test scritto comporta i seguenti esercizi:
− Grammatica (talking about obligation, present perfect/past simple, the passive, be
going to/present continuous for future, giving reasons, narrative tenses, reported
speech, modals and expressions for giving advice, mathematical expressions, ability),
20 punti;
− Vocaboli (cloze, matching), 20 punti;
− Comprensione del testo (true/false, domande a scelta multipla), 20 punti.
La prova orale verte su tutti gli argomenti trattati nello svolgimento dell'insegnamento.
Unità di misura utilizzata: sessantesimi. Il punteggio minimo per raggiungere l’idoneità
è 42/60.


Students are evaluated through a written test and an interview, the pass mark is required
for both the oral and written test. The written test covers the following points:
- grammar (talking about obligation, present perfect/past simple, the passive, be
going to/present continuous for future, giving reasons, narrative tenses, reported
speech, modals and expressions for giving advice, mathematical expressions,
ability): 20 marks;
- vocabulary (cloze, matching): 20 marks;
- text comprehension (true/false, multiple choice questions): 20 marks.
The test is evaluated on the student’s capacity to answer questions and is marked out of
sixty. The pass mark is 42/60.
The oral test involves questions about the topics covered in the syllabus.

in supporto alla conversazione. Queste attività sono svolte dai Collaboratori.


These activities are conducted by the teaching assistants and include grammar revision,
reading exercises, text comprehension, conversation.
